Preparing for your treatment
Please be freshly showered, without lotions, creams, oils, or fragrance of any kind.
The treatment area should be shaved approximately 24 hours prior to treatment to avoid irritation. Do not wax, tweeze, epilate or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments.
Avoid sun exposure and the use of UV tanning beds for at least two weeks before treatment.
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above on a daily basis. Consider LASPA Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30. Formulated with a unique SPF blend, LASPA keeps skin smooth and protected by using essential oils, plant materials, and zinc oxide to deliver a translucent, non-greasy result. Added antioxidants reduce inflammation and prevent skin cell damage.
Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (ie. salicylic acid, retinol, and benzoyl peroxide) for three days prior to treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and lotion on the treated areas.
Do not have Botox injections, dermal filler injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion in the treatment area for at least 14 days before laser hair removal.
During your complimentary consultation and/or Laser Hair Removal Appointment
Your laser technician will first determine if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal by asking a few pertinent questions about your recent health history. The treatment area will then be cleansed and prepared. Your technician will talk you through each step of the treatment to ensure that you are comfortable and there are no surprises. You will be required to wear protective eyewear, and only the areas to receive treatment will be exposed.
It is normal to experience some redness and swelling. This may persist for several days. There may also be some discomfort for a few hours after treatment.
Hair in the treated area will start to slowly shed over the course of two weeks. Patchiness is expected and normal.
Improper post-treatment care such as excessive sun exposure may increase the chance of scarring, pigmentation changes and a change in skin texture. You MUST avoid excessive heat (ie. hot tubs or saunas) for 24 hours after treatment.
Follow all instructions regarding oral medications that were provided during your consultation.
Do not have Botox injections, dermal filler injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion in the treatment area for at least 14 days after laser hair removal.
